RKM Cape │Mad About Prints

Hey Fam,

How have you all been? Well, I have been doing great and I hope you have too. Things have been on the busy side lately and I haven’t had the time to do as much blogging as I had hoped; ‘but hey, I’m here… and I’m back’ and I can’t wait to share with you what I’m up to over the next few weeks.

This post is a very special one because it’s about a great brand that I got the chance to work with recently. Now where to I begin?.

You know life on social media, you virtually meet up with so many people and you get the opportunity to interact with various brands. Well, this was and has been the case for for me for quite a while now. I learnt about  RKM in early 2016 and got the opportunity to meet up with the great woman behind this brand later on in the year at the 2016 Face of Africa Australia (FOAA) held in Perth, WA.

“RKM, the label inspired by the designer’s name Rhoda Kate Mphande is a brand with a style personified with a touch of the African heritage with the objective and endless desire to create clothing that adheres to elegance, modesty, class and no boundaries of who can be “Mad about prints” with her irresistible vibrant mix of African prints and striking colour combinations.”

While at FOAA, Kate showed her interest about a future collab. because she had also seen my work and loved it; and boy was I excited… I couldn’t stop smiling. Well, a few months later and here we are… I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with a such a great brand that has a strong message and stands for everything I stand for. I got sent a few pieces and this beautiful cape from RKM’s Duchess Collection was one of them.

To me this cape is three words, ‘elegant, vibrant and classy’.  Apart from the fact that it’s a cape, I love the long slit at the back even more.

To style it, I didn’t want to take away from it, so I went in with all black. I wore my perfectly fitted tailored trousers with my black long sleeved top, a black bag and my nude pumps. As always, I did not want much accessories, so I wore a set of white bracelets and that was it.

I received  endless compliments while wearing this blazer recently and I can honestly say that my outfit was the talk of town. I just love this look and I hope you do too. Again to women empowering women; I love seeing young successful women winning in business and I hope you can support and be a part of the journey and growth and rest assured that you are part of this history in the making.

I hope you have a fabulous week.
